Hello fellow Blues Brothers & Sisters

I’m unsure whether or not this Compilation CD has already been mentioned on this forum.
I did do a search within the forum before posting this but I couldn’t find any info about it. So, sorry in advance if it has already been posted previously and everyone already knows about it..

I can’t believe I actually forgot I own one of these CD’s and it’s been in my collection for years (!!) and was only reminded about it yesterday when a friend of mine mentioned it.
So I thought I’d share the info with all of you out there who maybe have never seen or heard of it before.

The CD is called:

“Hit it!… The R‘n’B originals that inspired the Blues Brothers”

It’s a fantastic compilation of the original tracks by the original artists of songs performed by the Blues Brothers that appear in the first movie, BB2000 & the live albums.

It was released in the UK in 2000 by a company called “Connoisseur Collection”.
It’s catalogue number is: VSOP CD 295

Here’s the front cover:

And here’s the complete track listing:
  • Peter Gunn Theme – Henry Mancini
  • I Can’t Turn You Loose – Otis Redding
  • Everybody Needs Somebody To Love – Solomon Burke
  • Hey Bartender – Floyd Dixon
  • Rawhide – Frankie Laine with Jimmy Carroll & His Orchestra
  • Shake A Tail Feather – 5 Dutones
  • Messing with The Kid – Junior Wells
  • Rubber Biscuit – The Chips
  • Gimme Some Lovin – Spencer Davis Group
  • Flip Flop & Fly – Big Joe Turner
  • I Don’t Know – Willie Mabon
  • Soul Man – Sam And Dave
  • I Ain’t Got You – Billy Boy Arnold
  • Boom Boom – John Lee Hooker
  • Cheaper To Keep Her – Johnnie Taylor
  • 6345789 – Wilson Picket
  • Ghost Riders In The Sky – Vaughan Monroe
  • She Caught The Katy – Albert King
  • Funky Nassau – Beginning Of The End
  • Sweet Home Chicago – Junior Parker
I think the CD is quite rare now as it has now been deleted but I did find one at Amazon.uk today (6th July)

Here’s the link:

Be quick!!

This is an absolute necessity for the collection!
I’m so glad I’ve been reminded I’ve got one as it is superb!!

Hope this was useful.

Wouldn't it work out cheaper to buy several CDs to get all these tracks? ;)

And even cheaper to just buy the tracks on-line from PureTracks or a similar service.

I got that cd. Nice addition, good to hear the original versions. But I think that the track She Caught The Katy would work better with the Taj Mahal version instead of the Albert King one.

I tihnk I have all those tracks anyway, but it would be cool to have them all on the one disc - especially a disc with an insert like that one! But $58.28 american dollars?! That's ridiculous!

All CDs play in all CD players worldwide (well, most of the time :))
There's no region restrictions, unlike with DVDs :)

DVD restrictions stink.
They apply to gaming consoles as well, right?

I'd like this CD too, bluesharp :BB:

[Off-topic]
I believe that with gaming consoles the difference is to do with PAL/NTSC, but I don't know if the actual game cartridges are different, or if it's just the player itself. The other difference is the power supply, because a 120volt system won't work in Australia, unless it's a 100-250v multi-voltage system.
