Man, I'd have to say Steve Cropper and Matt Murphy, those guys can play some serious guitar!!! They sound excellent on the albums, and on "Live in LA" they sound even better, since it's live and very gritty. Excellent!

Best member of the Blues Brothers Band?
24% said Alan 'Mr Fabulous' Rubin
22% said Matt 'Guitar' Murphy
14% said Donald 'Duck' Dunne
12% said Lou 'Blue Lou' Marini
8% said Steve 'The Colonel' Cropper
6% said Willie 'Too Big' Hall
6% couldn't choose
4% said Tom 'Bones' Malone
2% said Murph

It looks kinda dull when you put into percentages does't it? My vote went to Mr Fabulous as he completely blew my mind doing Minnie the Moocher.

I said Lou Marini because he's the one who stands out the best. When he lets loose on the sax, everyone else kind of becomes window dressing.

Blue Lou and Mr. Fabulous are the two best! they rule and play some damn good sax and trumpet. being a sax player, id have to say Lou rules most, and he really does! But in the film Mr.Fabulous was very funny

I can't believe Murph only got 2%... I wouldn't say he's THE best, but he is a very good pianist...

My vote would go to Alan 'Mr. Fabulous' Rubin too, because he also blows my mind in Minnie the Moocher. His trumpet is all I hear when I listen to that song. Amazing work. He deserves his nickname!

Blue Lou is also cool. Good saz player and he looks really friendly.

They are all very good musicians though...

The best band member...In a musical way...it´s difficult.Tese are my votes:
The team Dunn-Jordan for their solid groove working together as one.
The same vote for the classical 4 horn section (and remember the goods work of Tom Scott in the 70´s ..).
The contrast between two Americas´guitars: Steve versus Matt,Matt versus Steve,...so different,so hot,...
In keyboards...GOD! Difficult...
Well, friends, all these guys are very good and not only in our loving band, please listen the works of Tropea or Matt as leaders. But if I am true my favourite guy is...ALAN RUBIN!!! His licks are a cannon shot and his mute trumpet sound is really in a"Mr.Rubin style".And if you are a girl and you think that this chair and loving man has a so powerful eyes and a so tender smile...(and you are writting him a book),then you are....very different to the other girls!!!
Yes,Al,you are not great for a few minutes in a film...you are great for raise me up for more than 200 records "in a Rubin style".

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This thread has some pretty closed-minded posts in some parts of it, LOL!

Go back and re-read most of the posts and you'll see what I mean: "I like so-n-so because he and I both play the such-n-such instrument!"

Interesting statistics, too--where'd they come from? The percentages I mean. You got my curiosity all built up.

I don't think it's fair to even consider Elwood or Jake, because we all love them (and I do play some pretty stinky harmonica, so you know if we go based on the above quotes who I'd pick).

But, for the band, my pick is Blue Lou. For some reason or another I really do like him. I never knew why.

If I were going to party-hearty, I'd pick Duck Dunn and Steve Cropper. Since Willie "Too Big" Hall is in Memphis, TN, now, I'd say it'd be gravy to chill out with him (met him, super nice guy). Really, Dunn and Cropper because of their Musical Heritage here in Memphis, and they sort of helped shape the culture we know as The Blues Brothers with their songs and performances in them.

Though, I never understood why they had to kiss up to Alan Rubin--but it's a funny story there, I'm sure (to get him to play in the band)!

Sorry, didn't mean to make it sound like I knew that there was a story; but, rather, if there were a story about it I am sure it would be funny.

That's the kind of confusion happens when a guy is posting too fast while at work so he doesn't get caught!! :)
