Another thing, I've been going through the various forums and threads, and I've seen a few things we all need to improve before this forum gets out of control.
First of all, people are still posting in the wrong forums. Have a look in the General Chat forum to see how many threads on the first few pages I was able to move. A thread about Cab Calloway or Aretha Franklin belongs in Music. A thread about Conan O'Brien belongs under Movies/TV. 'How many harps do you have' belongs under Harmonica Chat. And 'how do i access the chatroom' belongs under Website Support. It's all fairly self explanatory, and it seems like General Chat has become a dumping ground for posts that could really go somewhere else. So whenever you create a new topic, please doublecheck that it's in the right forum.
Secondly, the titles of threads NEEDS to be more descriptive. "Look what I found!" is inappropriate, it's too vague. Think of the title like a summary of your post, if you don't explain it properly people might skip it completely, and then you'll wonder why nobody has replied to you.
Here are some good thread titles:
"I need you guys help ( rate this mp3 please )"
(Good title, but should have been posted under Music instead of General Chat)
"Make that Rizzolo for 9!!"
(Although this doesn't describe the post, it's still a good title for a General Chat thread)
And some titles that would have to be renamed by a moderator:
"Check this out." could be "Check out my new mp3 bass demo"
"i made it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" could be "I made it to 1500 posts!!!"
(More than 3 exclamation marks is excessive and will be edited)
You don't have to summarize your thread in just one word, longer titles are never a bad thing.
Good: "any one watch conan last night ?"
Bad: "Conan?"
I think most people have the hang of it, but keep in mind that now that we've got thousands of threads, finding things is much harder, and it's perfectly understandable that new members have a hard time searching for threads when they're poorly named.
A third thing which we should pay attention to is that from now on General Chat doesn't count towards your posts. So if you write a wonderful post about John Belushi, or post a photograph of your Blues Brothers tribute band, PLEASE post it in the correct forum or you won't get credit for it. If someone makes 100 posts in the 'Random Word' thread, but nowhere else, they really don't deserve to have a '100 posts' total on their profile, because they haven't contributed to any serious discussions on the site.
Also, General Chat topics may be deleted after a certain period of inactivity, because we don't really need to keep topics about how much you drank 'last night'....in 2004! :D
I'll review each one on a case-by-case basis of course, some things are worth holding on to.
And some GOOD news for anyone who has a picture in their signature, I've added a new BBCode tag called IMG2, you should see it as a new button in the WYSIWYG Editor when you go to edit your signature. It's right on the end, and it says 'SIG IMG'.
What it does is let you post an image that won't be resized. It's ONLY for use with your signature images, please don't use it in your actual posts, or for any large photos in your signature.
I've updated the signatures for bluesharp, Elwood_Stantz, and a few others, please let me know if you want me to do this for your signature too.
I'm happy with the way this has been going so far

I'll be adding some new features and doing a cleanup over the next few weeks.
One final thing, I hope you're all enjoying the
Arcade! Some of the high scores are impressive!
