The reputation system will come soon. I didn't want to enable everything in one hit, so it's easier to adjust for everyone.

I was going to add the smilie but I fell asleep, I've added it now.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. After getting the forum running (and staying up until 11:30am doing it), I just fell asleep :BB:
And I was busy today, only just got around to reading these replies now.
So I'll address everything in order.

The pages have all changed because of the new forum. What you'll (unfortunately) have to do is find all the posts that you had subscribed to, and resubscribe to them.
To do that, find the thread you want (do a search, or go to the correct forum and look through the list), and open the thread.
Just before the first post you'll see something like this:
[ATTACH]2[/ATTACH]
Click on 'Subscribe to this Thread', and you'll start getting emails whenever someone replies to it :BB:
You can also do this whenever you post a reply, there's an option for 'Thread Subscription' which defaults to 'Do not subscribe'. You can change this option to receive replies.

Definitely agreed! I don't like using numbers like that, because it confuses people, if I have it one way the Americans are confused, if I change it the UK and Australian people are confused. 3/3/06?? Too confusing. So I've changed this to be more like the old forum, ie '25th April 1998'. Is that ok bluesharp?
Also the good thing about this forum is it will say 'Today' and 'Yesterday' for posts, which is great if you forget today's date (like me!!!)

Chat room is a feature of the new site. It will come when we launch the next version of the main site. This was just a quick upgrade of the Soul Food Cafe, only. I know everyone is keen to start chatting again, but I'd prefer to keep this for the new site, because it will be need quite a lot of work to get up to scratch, and if I get it working now I'll have to do it all over again for the new site.

Hmm, let me post this reply and see what happens (my memory is terrible)

OK I see what you mean, it goes straight to your post without asking you.
I'm not sure exactly where you want to go after you make a post, so I'll tell you how to do all three.
If you want to go back to the Forum Home, just click the flashing Soul Food Cafe logo at the top (not the Return to Blues Brothers Central logo, but you already knew that).
If you want to go back to the Forum you just posted in (in the case of this thread, 'Website News'), then at the top you should see this:
[ATTACH]3[/ATTACH]
Click on 'Website News' (or 'Blues Brothers', 'General Chat', etc) to go back to the forum (the thread listing).

The other easy way to navigate, especially if you don't want to scroll right back up to the top of the page, is to use the Forum Jump Menu:
[ATTACH]4[/ATTACH]
You can use this to go to pretty much anywhere on the forum, including the 'Forums Home'.

I'm assuming these are the emails you get when someone replies to one of your posts, so hopefully the instructions in my previous post will help you to resubscribe to anything you like. You can also see the threads you subscribed to in your User CP, this can be really useful in case you've subscribed to a lot of threads and want to unsubscribe to some of them.

I hope I've managed to answer your questions right, please feel free to post more details or ask for more help :BB:

Another thing, I've been going through the various forums and threads, and I've seen a few things we all need to improve before this forum gets out of control.

First of all, people are still posting in the wrong forums. Have a look in the General Chat forum to see how many threads on the first few pages I was able to move. A thread about Cab Calloway or Aretha Franklin belongs in Music. A thread about Conan O'Brien belongs under Movies/TV. 'How many harps do you have' belongs under Harmonica Chat. And 'how do i access the chatroom' belongs under Website Support. It's all fairly self explanatory, and it seems like General Chat has become a dumping ground for posts that could really go somewhere else. So whenever you create a new topic, please doublecheck that it's in the right forum.

Secondly, the titles of threads NEEDS to be more descriptive. "Look what I found!" is inappropriate, it's too vague. Think of the title like a summary of your post, if you don't explain it properly people might skip it completely, and then you'll wonder why nobody has replied to you.

Here are some good thread titles:
"I need you guys help ( rate this mp3 please )"
(Good title, but should have been posted under Music instead of General Chat)
"Make that Rizzolo for 9!!"
(Although this doesn't describe the post, it's still a good title for a General Chat thread)

And some titles that would have to be renamed by a moderator:
"Check this out." could be "Check out my new mp3 bass demo"
"i made it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" could be "I made it to 1500 posts!!!"
(More than 3 exclamation marks is excessive and will be edited)

You don't have to summarize your thread in just one word, longer titles are never a bad thing.
Good: "any one watch conan last night ?"
Bad: "Conan?"

I think most people have the hang of it, but keep in mind that now that we've got thousands of threads, finding things is much harder, and it's perfectly understandable that new members have a hard time searching for threads when they're poorly named.

A third thing which we should pay attention to is that from now on General Chat doesn't count towards your posts. So if you write a wonderful post about John Belushi, or post a photograph of your Blues Brothers tribute band, PLEASE post it in the correct forum or you won't get credit for it. If someone makes 100 posts in the 'Random Word' thread, but nowhere else, they really don't deserve to have a '100 posts' total on their profile, because they haven't contributed to any serious discussions on the site.

Also, General Chat topics may be deleted after a certain period of inactivity, because we don't really need to keep topics about how much you drank 'last night'....in 2004! :D
I'll review each one on a case-by-case basis of course, some things are worth holding on to.

And some GOOD news for anyone who has a picture in their signature, I've added a new BBCode tag called IMG2, you should see it as a new button in the WYSIWYG Editor when you go to edit your signature. It's right on the end, and it says 'SIG IMG'.
What it does is let you post an image that won't be resized. It's ONLY for use with your signature images, please don't use it in your actual posts, or for any large photos in your signature.
I've updated the signatures for bluesharp, Elwood_Stantz, and a few others, please let me know if you want me to do this for your signature too.

I'm happy with the way this has been going so far :BB:
I'll be adding some new features and doing a cleanup over the next few weeks.

One final thing, I hope you're all enjoying the Arcade! Some of the high scores are impressive!
