Okay, bad subject name: I do know who Robert K. Weiss is. I was just trying to quote from the movie. Bad attempt - sorry.

What I was wondering was why is he on Elwood's list of vital American legacies? I know he did a lot for the movies, but does that mean he's up there with Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, etc?

I assumed this was a joke but it left me a little confused. He's listing all these great musicians and then...Robert K. Weiss? Duck was confused and so am I.

Anybody care to explain?

Robert K Wiess's name was mentioned because, there was some problems with Jim Belushi's contract to be in the movie(that's why Cab is in the movie, It was originally supposed to be the unknown brother of Jake). After Dan Aykroyd and John Landis had those problems with Universal and Jim's contract, Wiess told them not to give up and go on. Hope that helps.

Or it could have been a direct in-joke, in honor of having the foresight to produce the franchise for Aykroyd and Landis. I'm not sure if he has a cameo in either film or not, but if so it wouldn't be surprising, as he popped up briefly in each of the Naked Gun films, which he also produced.

I know that he did loads for the movies, I just wondered why they choose to put him in there.

When does he cameo in the Naked Gun films?

I can't remember the exact moment he appears in the first Naked Gun film, but I think he might be one of the people at the baseball game.

In the second film, he's one of the diners in the Blue Note Bar; you see him as one of the people staring in shock at Frank Drebin after he yells, "I haven't had this much sex since I was a Boy Scout leader!"

In the third film you see him at the Academy Awards ceremony, as one of the guys who win a Best Picture Oscar for the flop "Sawdust and Mildew."

I think he was in the orginal Blues Brothers Movie as the record producer that con-fronts them backstage after they perform in the hotel ballroom. He was the executive produder of the Blues Brothers Movies.

Mr. Weiss appears in the "The Start of Something Good" montage as a hotdog vendor who gets squirted with ketchup and mustard.

I forget where he appears in the second film but his face can be seen on a painting in the opening scene in the dining room.

In the third film, he plays the tuba player that Frank (as Phil Donahue) throws up into during the Oscars.

He is interviewed in the behind the scenes docs on the DVDs.

The mention? For the very fact that he's not a musician. It's randomly inserted because it's ridiculous.
