Ive gotten much better at playing..and im looking to tackle something more difficult. This is my favorite harmonica song performed by the blues brothers. I found a tab on Haprtabs.com but i didnt like it. I mainly want the beginning part. if anyone can help me that would be fantastic.

Ok - I've tried to work this out as best I could - its an Eb harp; just the harp intro on "briefcase..." 2nd position cross harp - I guess the bit you're interested in is the chugging part.

draw on holes 1,2 and 3 while moving your tongue as if you were saying dah dah dah dah dit dit dah (i.e. as if you were singing the harp riff) and then the last 4 notes alternate between 2 draw bent a half step and 1 draw

If you want the very first bit, it is more complicated, but this is a close approximation.

4d (rapid half step bends to get the warbling sound)

4d 3d 2d play this 4 times

2d// (i.e. bend 2 steps down) 2d// 2d// 2d// 1d 1d/(i.e. bent one step down) 1d 3b

and then onto the chugging rhythm bit...

Hope this helps. When I've got some time I'll post some links to sound clips of it played slowly so you can hear better what's happening

Hey MadHatter - I knew there was something... :P

Basically I'd just finished recording when I realised I'd misheard a little bit - not major though - but I was going to redo the second part and get it right...

Then my wife gave birth last month!

A toddler and a newborn - I just haven't had the time! Sleep wassat??!!

So I'm posting up the (slightly) incorrect version and you'll just have to hope that I get time to correct it before these boys turn 21!!!

Here ya go...

123d (dah dah dah dah dit dit dah)
2//d 1d 2//d 1d

is what I play on the track (dunno what's going on, the mix comes through well balanced on my machine:???:BB: but that's the bit I got wrong...

on listening again it sounds more like...

123d (dah dah dah dah) 123b (dah) 123d (dit dit dah)
2//d 1d 2//d 1d

but with all the crowd noise it's hard to be certain. Like I say in the clip - it's my interpretation - it's not 100% but hey, its close;)

I do it by starting with sucking in on the 6 hole about 6-8 times then keep sucking and mouthing weedeeoh 5 times for the beginning then

3b 3b 4b 3b 3b 4b 3b 3b 4b 4b 4b 4b(this one is real short)

2b 2b(together kinda fast)

then there are three parts that are variated within the whole thing

one is

4b 4b 4b 4b 3b 4b 4b 4b 3b(bend oweow twice on 3b)

another is the same only bend one and 1/2 times on 3b and go up to 4 fast

another is this

4b 4b 3b(owee once) 4b 4b 4b 3b(oweeowah)

Ill send clips soon.

I just need to figure out how to record it onto my computer. I can't record it on a CD and download 'cause I don't have any recording equipment.

You need a microphone. Nearly all computers should have a microphone plug, near where you connect your speakers. It might be a pink plug. You could find a computer microphone at a computer or office supply shop easily enough. The sound won't be fantastic, but it should be decent enough for what you want.
Then you'll need some software on your computer to do the actual recording of whatever comes through the microphone.
Anyone got any good software they use?

Sorry I misheard part. Instead of the second variation do this one

4b 4b 3b(owee once) 4b 4b 4b 3b(owee once quick) 4b

so they are
1.4b 4b 4b 4b 3b 4b 4b 4b 3b(bend oweow twice on 3b)

2.4b 4b 3b(owee once) 4b 4b 4b 3b(owee once quick) 4b

3.4b 4b 3b(owee once) 4b 4b 4b 3b(oweeowah)

the order they come in the song is

1 1 1 3 1 3 2 3 3 3 3 3
