BB Central,

Would it be possible to put I Can't Turn You Loose/Everybody Needs Somebody to Love (Palace Hotel Version) in the downloads section as one MP3. This version is obviously not the one on the soundtrack and is also different from the closing credits version... I think it is cool with Curtis's intro. Thanks in advance.

Do you have the DVD?
Is there any point to posting these if everyone has the DVD?
I'm just trying to avoid ripping all the songs from the movie. I'll think about the Can't Turn You Loose version, but I don't want to post 'Everybody Needs Somebody'.

I have a request too, but It isn't on this topic. I was wondering If you could put up a section about the Dixie Square Mall, and a page about all of the movie locations. Thanks.

I could provide the info on Dixie Square Mall if you want :)

I have some photos of the locations that were sent to me:
I'm working on a list with photos.
Still having trouble tracking down Mrs Tarantino, The Propellants Factory, the gas station and the tunnels (under the palace hotel).
I think we've found everywhere else.

I think the tunnels were part of the Chicago Freight Tunnel System. Check out this link..http://churex.topcities.com/webpages/missions.html. That should show you somepics. I've heard that the Cicero neighboorhood has those type of houses that Mrs Torantino lived in. But, I'm not sure. The propellents factory was ethier in Joliet, or Hammond, Indiana. I was informed by a friend of mine who lives in Chicago, who's name is Jerome, that there was a Texaco refinery in Joliet, that was used in the opening credits. Maybe they filmed there? Hope this helps.

Oh, and the gas station was in West Chicago. I think I read that somewhere. Don't remember where though.

I read in the Google Newsgroups that the tunnels were a mock-up, but I don't know if that's true.
I've been getting the feeling that the entrance that Jake and Elwood entered the tunnels through is the same as the entrance Camille entered through. I think they may have flipped the camera around and filmed it from the different angles. It's an old camera trick to give the illusion that the tunnels are twice as long.
I'm going to check on it further and take some screenshots.
The only other thing I could do is ask Judy Belushi where those scenes were filmed!

maybe that's what they did. Those two entrances look different though. Do you know when your movie location list will be complete? Thanks

Well, things are going VERY slow at the moment.
I am having a lot of trouble researching for the website, mainly because I am stuck with a very slow internet connection.
I can't get any form of broadband internet where I live. That's why it takes so long to perform updates on the site.
I've actually been rewriting the Gig Guide section, because I'd like a list of ALL the gigs the Blues Brothers have done over the years.
The Locations will probably be the next thing.

BB Central,

I do have the DVD but I don't know how to change songs from the movie into MP3s. If I did, I wouldn't request them. Thanks anyway.

ok, well, Dixie Square Mall opened in 1966. It had a JCPenney, and Montgomery Ward in it. Sometime in the 70's it was expanded with a new anchor called TurnStyle, and a few other stores. Also, in the mid to late 70's, a lot of crime started to happen. Many robberies, and one murdser occured there. Finally, in 1979, the mall closed. Later that year, John Landis came to the city of Harvey, telling them that he wanted to film part of the Blues Brothers there. They agreed, and John Landis told them that they would repair any damage caused in the filming. So, they rearranged a few stores. They put the Toys R Us store where the old Walgreens store was. They moved the interior entrance to Jewel in the front of the old JCPenney, and they made the place look almost like new. After they were done filming, they just left the place there like it was when they were done. They never fixed it up like John Landis had said. There are still studio lights hanging from the cieling where they filmed the movie(seen in pictures). A small fire happened in the mall in June, when a guy set fire to a storage area near Montgomery Ward. They put the fire out, and that guy is facing arson charges. The city of Harvey, also wants to turn the old mall into a Mixed Use Development, which I think is really stupid. But that's just me :(

Some info above was from Jerome, also known as "dixiesquare" on this site, but, some was my own knowledge too.

You can find more info of this mall at www.deadmalls.com and www.mallhistory.com. I work for both of those sites.

And there are numerous sites that have pics of this mall, from the outside and the inside. One of them is a site called Chuck's Photo Spot, which was a link given to me from Jerome. Hope all of this helps!
