Blues Brothers Band Live in the UK 1989

Thought I'd share this with you all...
Like all you guys and gals out there, I've been a fan for more years then I care to remember. All of the Blues Brothers memorabilia I've collected since about 1985 has been lovingly stored away over the years (at least until I can get a spare room to fill up!!)
But there was one item that I thought I'd lost years and years ago from the collection which I'm very glad to say I've managed to find again!
How it ever strayed from the rest of the collection I'll never know!
Anyways it's a Live Bootleg Recording of the gig that the original band members did here in the UK on 10th July 1989 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London with Larry Thurston and Eddie Floyd on vocal duties.
I was ACTUALLY in the audience that night of the performance back in '89 and found the bootleg cassette of the concert for sale in Camden Market a few months later.
I was over the moon it was a recording of the same performance I'd actually seen!
I still have the tickets / t-shirts and an enormous billboard poster advertising the gig that I (and my Blues Brothers partner in crime) ripped off the billboard totally intact!
I was amazed that the tape is still in great condition - even 17 years later!
The quality of the recording is still good (low in places with a lot of audience clapping in time to the beats of the songs) and it even has us all chanting and clapping "We Want The Show" at the beginning!
I'm gonna download it to digital minidisc and get it onto a CDr or file sometime so everyone can enjoy it as much as I did back in 1989 and now in 2006 on re-hearing it again!
Chris.. if you're reading this...let me know the best way of getting this to you so you can put it up on the Bootleg site for everyone.
As with all bootlegs, it's certainly not a perfect recording but as a piece of the Blues Brothers Band history it's worth hearing! Especially Duck Dunn interacting with the audience!
As all you BB fans out there will already know, a very very similar gig was recorded for "The Live In Montreux" video and audio releases on the 12th July 1989. So this bootleg was recorded just a couple of days before!
So here's the track listing for the 10th July gig for all those interested:
Side 1 :
- Green Onions
- Band Introduction
- I Can't Turn you Loose Intro / Peter Gunn Theme
- Soul Finger
- You Don't know Like I Know
- She Caught The Katy
- Hold On
- The Thrill Is Gone
- Midnight Hour
- Sweet Home Chicago
Side 2
- I Can't Turn you Loose
- In The Name Of Soul
- 6345789
- Stand By Me
- My Baby Likes The Soaps
- Knock On Wood
- Soul Man
- Hey Bartender
- Everybody Needs Somebody To Love
Sorry this is so long!
I'll keep you posted on its conversion.
Til then....Don't You Go Changing....

Hi, sorry for the delayed repsonse...
The interaction is basically Duck Dunn joking around with the audience as he introduces some of the band members...
The one that stands out the most is when he seems to realise that they wrote Green Onions
"22 years ago" and he tells the audience that he feels like an old guy...
(we all responded back with a loud "NO"!!)
...and tells us that they actually "...came over with the Mayflower"
He then goes on to introduce Steve Cropper, who he refers to as having known "since the 6th grade"
It was little remarks and humour like this that made the show feel even more personal and special.
We all idolise these guys and hold their talent in such a high regard,
so it was great to realise that they're also the kind of guys you could maybe share a beer and have a laugh with to.
Thanks Chris - got your PM and replied.
Hopefully between us we'll get this up and available for everyone.
I'll keep you posted on its progress!

After what seems like an age, I've finally gotten around to converting this bootleg from a cassette down onto computer.
I've made a copy and it's on it's way to Chris in Australia as I type!
So depending on how quick he can do it (and he's real busy at the moment) ... it shouldn't be too long before this bootleg of the concert from the Hammersmith Odeon in July 1989 appears on the bootleg section for everybody to hear.
I hope it was worth the wait.
All the very best to you all

Apologies to everyone for the delay, I completely forgot until Cropper Classic reminded me!
I'll post a link as soon as it finishes uploading (in about 2 hours!), it's a 124MB ZIP file containing 192kbps MP3 files.

So glad that the old bootleg cassette i had sat in my collection has been made available to everyone.
Thank you so much Chris for taking the time to put it up on the site... really appreciate it.
Hope you all enjoy this old bootleg as much as i enjoyed seeing the show live all those years ago!
Again sorry for the "bootleg" quality.
I didn't record it myself, it was like that on the cassette... but i hope you at least enjoy what you hear!
all the best

Now that the bootleg is up and available, I thought I'd put the following pictures up for you all to make up a cover.. should you so wish.
The quality hasn't transferred perfectly from the originals but they'll do as a temporary package.
Here is the front cover I made up using an old picture of the Hammersmith Odeon itself:

Here is the inlay. This is an exact copy of the cover that the cassette came with.

And here's the back cover.

Hope they're useful.
All the best

Yes, I've had it for around 4 years now on DVD.
I'm not uploading the DVD due to bandwidth issues, but I'll be posting the audio as an mp3 bootleg in the near future.
