Now I know of the movie 'Wired', Ive never seen it because Ive heard its so bad and tarnishes the name of John Belushi... However, Ive been thinking. They really need to make a new movie about John, a truthful, caring one that shows the many sides of him. The drug user of course, but also the brother, the son, the husband, the best friend, the man that was John Belushi.

He deserves a great movie about him, much like Andy Kaffman had, and many others.

Now, I know alot of you dont want Jack Black to play a young Jake Blues, but honestly, he is perfect for a movie 'John Belushi' and I think he would flourish in the role.

It could be called "Belushi: The Real Story"

The movie could show clips with Jack Black in clips from Animal House, Blues Brothers, Continental Divide(which is probably the most underrated movie of Belushi's, he's great in it) and all his others. Then show the offstage dilemmas and partys, and the caring side of John.

Honestly, this MUST be done soon before Jack Black gets too old, and before people forget about John Belushi (although, that just might be impossible!).

So, what do you guys think? I think its a great idea, and I believe Jack Black would be spectacular as John, and would probably win plentiful awards.

i agree that this movie woodnt be too good, but i must say jack black is not a ripoff of john and is horrible, what about all the ppl on this site with bb tributes? what about the Blues Brothers themselve, with no origional songs? and i gotta tell ya, jackblack has the same build as john belushi, he can never pass for a Jake/John, he doesnt have the rite look or anything, noone can look like anyone, i know this from exprience, i was Mr. Rogers last haloween (yes, im 14 and Mr. Rogers is my favoraite show) looked nuthin like him. so its impossible to give anyone else the names of Jake and Elwood Blues

tributes are a compleatly differntly subject all together. for if some one wants to play the part of jake(r.i.p.) or elwood , be it halloween or a tribute band, or stage act or you just want to be them ,you are taking an allready know act and doing the best you can with it!! you dont have to realy look like the person to be them!! close is good, but i have seen bb tribute bands and some were very good and some just awful.!! the mind is a powerful thing, if your lucky to see one of the better bands out there, and truly belive, your mind blocks out some of the minor flaws and leaves you with what you want to see. but some one like jack (the rip off) black took the all ready know product and trys to pass it off as some thing he thought of, thinking nobody will be smart enough to figure it out!! but thats where i belive hes wrong!! every time i see him do a rant, or fall through a window, or try to do what he calls acting , i cringe!! knowing every thing hes done was done by the master more than 20 years ago!!if he where just to admit that john(r.i.p.) was an influance on him, i would have a little(just a little) respect for him!

Maybe what is needed more is a new and better book written about Belushi instead.

After all part of the reason many people say "Wired" sucked was because the book it was based off of was rather muckraking.

Besides many might say that it's virtually impossible to get an actor to portray another actor in a truly believable light. Perhaps the closest I saw was Martin Landau in "Ed Wood" when he played Bela Lugosi.

Hello everyone,
I am new to the site, and I am happy to read that so many of you want a new John Belushi movie!! I am currently writing a script/screenplay about John in a loving manner. I want to show his human side of him as well as his love for his friends and wife. I would love to hear what everyone out there would like to see in the movie. I am a huge Belushi/Blues Brothers fan and I vow to show John in a good light.

I am currently trying to get a hold of Judy to discuss this to become a reality, and I will not agree to the film without her approval.

Let me know what you think!

HI! I sent an email the other day to '[email protected]' regarding the thought of possibly turning the new book into a movie based on Johns life. Today, I discovered I recieved an E-Mail back from non other than Mrs. Judy Belushi-Pisano! Enclosed are both of the emails...

Hi,

My name is Justin and have been a big fan of John ever since I can remember. I have seen just about everything he has done in movies, and television and I just really admire what he was able to do in his short life. He has, and continues to inspire people all over the world. I think it's safe to say that his legacy will live on long after all of us die. He truely was a great man.
Now, my question is this: Is their any remote possibility about this book possibly being turned into a movie? I have seen the movie 'Wired' much to my dismay, and wish I could disregard that movie from my, and everyone else's mind. I just really think there needs to be a movie made about John to show his true side. Something that shows everybody the caring brother, husband, son, friend, comedian, and sadly drug user. Perhaps something to the likes of 'Ray', or maybe to the nature of 'Man on the Moon' the movie about Andy Kauffman. I really think a movie like that would be a great way to get more of the truth out about John.
Thank you VERY MUCH for your time, and I hope you can consider my thought. And, just to let you know, I will be purchasing the book in a very short time. Thank you very much for the book, it's something all John fans needed. Now, if I can only find Blues Brothers: Private on ebay, then I'll be in business!
Thanks again,
Justin

And her responce!

Justin,

Thank you for your kind words. You are clearly a man of extreme good
taste!

I, too, agree it would be nice to have a quality movie, just along the
lines of the examples you gave .One of the problems with doing John's
life is we need to cast someone who can be funny, sing and dance their
ass off --which I believe there are many fine actors who could pull
that off in a movie -- but his life was also filled with so many well
known, talented people, that you have to find a way to deal with that
without it becoming an impersonation fest. However, one never knows...

I do see BB:Private on internet from time to time. I have also noticed
that the price can really vary, from reasonable to over $100. It might
go up right now, with new book out, so you might hold off it it seems
high.

Best of luck. Drop me a critic of the book after read it.

Judy

You can tell by reading that E-Mail that she is just an amazing lady. It really is my pleasure to have been able to contact her.

Now, HERE'S HOPING A NEW MOVIE ABOUT JOHN COMES OUT!! :D http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum2/public/style_emoticons/default/icon_exclaim.gif

Like I've said all along, Judy is really nice to the fans :D

I had no idea she'd even considered a movie about John! Nice to hear she doesn't hate the idea.

I also didn't realise she could be directly contacted through that website, I assumed it would go right to the publisher or someone in management!
I think perhaps we should all email her to thank her for the book
(As long as we aren't flooding her with mail).

If a movie were to be made, i'd highly consider casting Jack Black in the role of John - he bears similar resemblance, can do that eyebrow thang and his singing voice is VERY similar to John's! Check him out!

When actors play other actors in biographies, examples are Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash, Ray Charles by Jamie Foxx, and Jim Carrey as Andy Kauffman, these actors just study and study the men they are playing and just try to serve them justice as best they can.

Honestly, Jack Black is perfect so to speak. He has the look, the build, the face definatley. I think he could play John Belushi as best as anyone.

ill tell you this part is like none other. No matter who it be would have to be carefully considerd before signing on. I personally think if they rush the casting the movie will stink!

Heres a new one, Who do you think would be good for Dan Aykroyd? I really didnt dig the guy in the Gilda movie. And I hated the guy in Wired the movie.however, I thought the guy who played John, Had a good voice goin, good attitude, especially the scene where John gos nuts on the set and bails because he thinks the skit isnt funny. The really bad thing about this guy was that he was too skinny and not shown enough.
5 Grand? No problem. We'll have it for you in the morning. Let's go Elwood!

Well, I love Jack Black. He is actually multitalented, very funny (everyone has learned a lot of things from a previous person, isn't it?), has a wonderful voice and also is kinda original (TenaciousD lyrics are awesome! - TenD is a rock duo composed by Jack Black and Kyle Grass).

I don't know if he would be the best actor for this role, but I think he's surely one of the best actors (similar not only physically, but also a bit the behaviour, even if Jack is sometimes too much "explosivo")

P.s.: Sorry for my awful english! ^^

I'd rather see "unknowns" and character actors in all the roles than big-name stars.

True! Jack Black does have basically every quality! The build, the energy, he has a pretty good voice too!

I dont see a chance for a new Movie about Mr. Belushi ... a documentation, hmm maybe,
but not a movie ;) ... which is also bad :P
