Is it just a sampler? A bootleg or a real album?

It's also quite possible that "Dancing With The Blues Brothers" was to be another compilation album featuring the higher/high paced songs. But I cannot find any definite information about it at present.

Yickle.

I'm new on the forum so wanted to throw myself into it head first by offering a little help on this "Lost Album" release.
I actually own a copy of this LP. It sits lovingly in amongst my entire Blues Brothers collection on vinyl.
So... here's the details if your interested...
The correct title of this Mini-LP is
"DANCIN' WID' DA BLUES BROTHERS"
- This maybe one of the reasons you've had trouble tracking it down.
It is an official Atlantic release.
It was available only on LP and cassette. Here are the catalogue numbers:
LP = 80135.1 : Cassette = 80135.4
The date on the records label is 1980 but that might actually be the copyright date of the material on the record rather then the actual release date. I picked my copy up back in the mid 1980's in a record shop in London. On the sleeve it still has it's original Import sticker - as I'm in the UK and it's an American release - I've a feeling it was a U.S release only as there's another sticker on the front of mine saying "Mini LP $8.99 R.R.P"
I don't own a digital camera so I'm afraid I can't offer anyone a picture of it. But I will rectify that if I can borrow one from a mate. In the meantime I'll descibe the cover if you're interested...
The entire front and back cover has picture stills from the original movie. Over the top of the stills on the front is a black and white shot of Jake and Elwood hat & shades wearing heads.
The back is covered with the same pictures (approx 24) but doesn't have the heads of Jake or Elwood. Instead it has the LP's track listing at the top middle and 3 of the pictures amongst all the others have little speach bubbles coming from either Jake or Elwoods mouth quoting a relevant line from that scene.
Picture 1 = Jake & Elwood walking past the ladies in the toilet cubicles at the Palace Hotel Ballroom. Speach bubble says:
"'Scuse us Ma'm we're on a mission From God!"
(Although as most of you will know.. they don't actually say that in that scene in the film.. they actually say "Good evening ladies" as they pass by the toilet cubicles and the women all scream.
Picture 2 = The fantastic close up of the two as they look direct into the camera (at ex-landlady Mrs Tarantino's house) and explain who they really are. Speach bubble says "We're Musicians"
Picture 3 = (last one) has Jake at Chez Paul leaning over to the family at the table behind them and causing trouble.
Speach bubble says "How much for da little girl"
And so to the track listing...
As it's a mini LP compilation, it contains 8 tracks
(5 on Side 1, 3 on Side 2). They are:
Side 1:
1) Intro: "I Can't Turn You Loose", "Time Is Tight" (The same intro as "Briefcase Full Of Blues")
2) Peter Gunn Theme (From the Original Soundtrack)
3) Shake A Tailfeather (From the Original Soundtrack)
4) Soul Man (From "Briefcase Full Of Blues")
5) Rubber Biscuit (From "Briefcase Full Of Blues")
Side 2:
1) Do You Love Me (From "Made In America")
2) Gimme Some Lovin' (From the Original Soundtrack)
3) Sweet Home Chicago (From the Original Soundtrack)
Well there you go...
Sorry for such a long explaination.. must invest in a digital camera and let the pictures do all the talking!!
Also many apologies if all this info has been mentioned before somewhere on this forum.
I've yet to read every single post so it may have already been covered elsewhere!
Hope it helps anyway.
Keep both feet on the wheel...
Rob
PS if any collector is interested... I just found one for sale on the interweb... (as of 10.52pm 17/10/05)
It's at:

I've FINALLY managed to get round to taking some pictures of the front & back covers of this very rare Blues Brothers Mini LP release, "DANCIN' WID DA BLUES BROTHERS"
Firstly apologies...
1) The quality of the pictures isn't perfect, as they were done on a mobile phone camera...
(still haven't invested in a proper digital one yet!)
2) The front & back sleeves obviously don't have my union card name all over them!
I've added these to prevent possible bootlegging of the covers of this very rare LP release.
Sorry if that annoys anyone but even though the picture quality isn't great, I'd hate to think that they could be used to produce a "bootleg" copy of this release which people on eBay might try & rip people off with.
Hope you understand.
I will put up proper quality pictures when I can.
Until then, I hope these will do for now!
I've also included close-ups of the pictures with the speech bubbles, the price & import sticker PLUS a close-up of a picture on the sleeve I've not seen before..
Enjoy!

Price & Import Stickers:

The Speech Bubbles:

All the best

www.discogs.com
(it may not be on there at the time of typing this as it's being processed - I will let you know when I get confirmation of it's addition to the list)
Anyways, while I was checking the sleeve for information, I discovered that the release date of the LP was on the spine (in very small numbers & letters!)
It was officially released by Atlantic in 1983.
I bought in in 1985, so it's been in my collection for 21 years!!
Blimey, where does the time go?!
Anyone else out there own a copy?
Rob

Now when any fans search and type in the album name into Google, the information can be found both there and on this forum...
from now until the end of time!
Job done!

More proof that if you have old albums, hang onto them! If you see one cheap, buy it http://www.bluesbrotherscentral.com/forum2/public/style_emoticons/default/icon_razz.gif
I bought a copy of BB Private, near-mint condition, poster intact and attached! Paid $30 for it, seen similar on eBay for close to $100

Get yourself a cheapo MP3 player (20 bucks) and a cassette adapter (9 bucks), and you can download all the BB you want into the MP3 player, and play them through your van stereo via the cassette adapter...
