Does anyone know why these core band members in the early days were unable to be in the movie (I know that Paul Schaffer was contracted for something else, but I'm not sure about these two guys). And who suggested Murphy Dunne and Willie Hall as replacement players to the Aykroyd/belushi/Landis triumvirate?

I heard that Belushi asked Murphy Dunne to be in the movie. Willie Hall has played on some Stax records as a member of the Bar-Keys (Soulfinger) and as a producer for Isaac Hayes. He also played drums on some of the late Booker T. & The MG's songs, so I think Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn asked him.
In "Wired" Bob Woodared wrote that Belushi and Steve Jordan had trouble because of money and drugs.

Yea, I also read in "Samuari Widow" that Steve Jordan was also one of the people there for Judith Jacklin Belushi after John's death. Did you guys know she was in the Blues Brothers movie? She was one of the watresses that brings "Murph and the Magic Tones" their drinks in the "Quando, Quando, Quando" scene, the black straight haired one that looks directly at Jake... interesting

Any idea on Tom Scott? Anyone? Bueller? I still don't get why (if they did) Steve and Duck would have asked Willie even though Steve Jordan had been there since the start of it.

Well Jordon was like Paul Shaffer a memebers of the SNL-Band. And Shaffer couldn't be in the movie because he couldn't get out of his contratct with SNL. Maybe the same happened to Jordon.
Before Tom Scott joined the BB Band he had been very famous with his band Tom Scott & the L.A. Express. Maybe he had to tour.

Tom Scott and Paul Schaffer were both up for the bandleader job of the Letterman show when things were getting started at NBC for Dave back in the early 80's.

I'd say "The Shiv" has done a good job.......:BB:

She's listes in the credits: "Cocktail Waitress - Judy Jacklin". Didn't know that, either, I just found out right now.

How come it seems like (well, to me at least) that Tom Scott is one of the most overlooked member of the band? I'm not discrediting anyone, I just asking, how come so little is known about Tom, other than his band?

Since he wasn't in the movies, he's more difficult to remember.
