Jake ain't fat. He's thick. He's wide. He's round.

But, he ain't fat.

Look at his profiles in the movie, he hardly has a double chin. He's got a little paunch in his gut area, but he's not fat.

I see a LOT of Blues Brothers tributes in the world and those who are playing the role of Jake are always obese, even at Universal Studios...

...but, Jake is NOT FAT.

My buddy Lin plays "Linwood" (to my "Soloman D.H.,") not Jake. Those Blues Brothers characters that are NOT Jake or Elwood are exempt from this discussion.

Thoughts?
Am I just annoyed for no reason?

Jake was not fat, he was fluffy, chunky, and the most favorit bulkie. he wasnt fat chris farly on the outher hand was fat and John Goodmen. Most of the tributes are 5 times as big as jake, but another way to think about it is that He was always next to a skinney man Dan Akroyd so in comparassion John may have looked much bigger.

Good thoughts on being next to the skinny man...that might have proven quite the optical illusion to many looking at him.

I'm not having a go at anybody here but there is nothing wrong with dan's weight!!!!!
It's called"growing old gracefully".
His weight doesn't change Dan as a person and don't forget he's in his 50's now.
Appreciate the guy for who and what he's done!!!!!

I never really considered him "fat." He is a tad plump, but not enough to really be fat. Shorter people, especially when seen next to taller folks like Aykroyd tend to seem a bit larger around the middle than they are in reality.

I know, blueharp, and I´m still a fan of Dan. I don´t care about his weight, and yes,he´s still a great person. And i feel a little sad, because all his partners ( Murray, Ramis,Landis...) have new projects for films, and his last thing was "Christmas with the Kranks" (2004).

I do wish Danny was doing more things, but didn't he say he's going to retire from Hollywood for a while?

Danny's weight goes up and down and up and down...He lost a TON of weight for BB2K, but he's gained some more when I saw him in concert in June, but then a week or two later looked skinnier again on David Letterman.

I'm on the "fat rollercoaster" myself. I'm kinda heavy right now.

That's what made me think about this thread!

I would never judge a person on their wait. I was very heavy myself when I was shorter and younger. The reason I said that about Dan is that I am worried. Just many health risks at his age, and then being heavy it won’t help. I used to be heavy but they I grew from 5ft 5 to my current height 6ft 2 in a matter of a year or less; and it messed my knees up. I am currently 200 pounds (of heavenly Joy) on the dot but I still manage. When I can't go to the gym aka my job, I just do some setups. I am never growing to be like built, but I am in shape as it is. I also have a long history of diabetes and diseases related to being heavy in my family so I have to watch it.

I've made comments about hitting the treadmill because "I'm going from Elwood to Jake"...but Jake ain't fat.

I used to be skinny like Elwood, but I'm closer to Jake's height, and now my gut is catching up with me (for now),so that's the reason for that.

If Jake were a woman,he'd be referred to as "thick",which is perfect....
I got everything I need....almost...
