Hey everyone! I was wondering something. Well, a lot of things happen during The Blues Brother's fantastic mission from god, and I was thinking about something. What are some things that you never really noticed that Jake, Elwood, the band members, anyone really does the first time you saw the movie, but noticed after the 3rd or 4th time? I just happen to have a list here of what I've noticed... (brace yourselves, it's a long one. And it goes in no particular order, just the order i thought of them in. Also, some of them are weird, but I think they're cool)

- How Elwood walks in a circle before they (J & E) both dance down the catwalk during 'Sweet Home Chicago'
- When TBB are getting chased through the mall- how Elwood and the cops turn the wheel and how crazy they drive (Well, really anytime they do this)
- When you see sideviews of Jake and Elwood's faces when infront of the orphanage: how you can see them blink (again, really anytime you can see this)
- When Curtis is intoducing The Blues Brothers in the Palace Hotel Ballroom, how Donald 'Duck' Dunn slides his hand down the bass and leans on one foot for a second or two
- How you can see the light shine off of Elwood's eyes during the car chase scene when the winabego zooms by
- The awesome sound of the Bluesmobile reving up!
- After the Bluesmobile falls apart, how Jake says "Come on!" (I like how he says it)
- At Elwood's apartment, how the music just starts up again after they get shot at by the Mystery Woman
- How Elwood leans back in his chair and stuffs food in his mouth in the backround of some Chez Paul scenes
- Jake's look after the Bluesmobile jumps the hole the Nazis' car makes from falling out of the sky
- How Elwood drops his briefcase after the Bluesmobile falls apart
- Jake's look when Elwood takes his hat off after the Bluesmobile falls apart

Yes I've had a lot of time on my hands tonight. Anyway...

- How Elwood locks his jaw right before he punches on the gas and zooms the Bluesmobile over the draw bridge
- Elwood looks down before Jake says "I guess you're really up sh*t creek." then quickly looks up at Jake after he says this
- When Elwood holds his head after the Penguin snaps her ruler on his head
- How awesome Jake's dancing in the church scene really is
- How Elwood looks at Jake during the church scene before Jake sees the light (whenever he looks at him, he's like "be respectful damnit!" it's funny :))
- James Brown's sliiide during the church dancing sequence
- Jake finds Elwood's hat form him so easily after the hotel blows up

Ok I know its a lot but I've been so bored tonight and I really felt like posting this. Anyway, what about you?

Yeh, lol.

Well I don't pay that much attention to films! I do peek in the corners of the screen to see whats happening around them and you always think "I wonder if that is really there, or a prop'?"

Thanks for the list, will keep my eyes peeled for some of that.

I confess that I'm 30 years old and never saw the movie until 1990! But the first time I saw it, it immediately became my favorite movie EVER, and still holds that title.

Having said that...there's something I didn't notice until about a month or two ago. Pay close attention to Sam & Dave during the "rollers" exchange before the mall scene. I just now noticed that their exchange is in perfect rhythm to the song!

"Shit."

[drum beat]

"What?"

[drum beat]

"Rollers."

[drum beat]

"Naw!?"

[drum beat]

"Yup."

[drum beat]

"Shit!"

[drum fill]

My wife said don't get excited, there's no way that could have been planned...regardless, it's pretty cool!

-Elwood discreetly taking slices of white bread out of his jacket and trying to make toast in Ray's Music Exchange.

-Jake trying to light his cigarette with the car's cigarette lighter, then tossing it out the window when it doesn't work.

Just two I could think of off the top of my head.

Did anyone ever notice the old road sign in Elwoods apartment that falls off the left wall, shortly after they enter the room and the first train goes by?

They even synced it´s sound, otherwise it would have looked odd and would be more obvious... and I´m shure almost everyone is focused on the train and the dialogue...

I know that it's the lens of the camera distorting the image a bit, but when Bob says "Union hell, those boys ran out of here owin' me a lot of money" he points towards the Blues Brothers, his arm looks like it's 7 feet long. Pause it when he points to see what I mean.

Okay I noticed some more swearing once I watched it a couple of times. Like how Duck says to move over and he uses a swear word when they are getting ready to leave Bob's Country Bunker.

OR

My favorite. Elwood so drops the f-bomb in the Penguins presence!!! He was like f this shit man and runs off that's when Jake follows stuck in the desk. I rewound that part a lot to get my mom to hear it and to make sure I heard it right!!!!

Yeah, I noticed that too. The first time I saw it, I thought it was odd that Elwood never said the dreaded f word in the movie, even though everyone else did. Then, on second viewing I heard him go "fuck this noise, man" as he runs out. Classic

This is certainly a movie that rewards you for watching it several times and looking out for the finer details, many of which have been pointed out. However, in my first viewing I was totally blown away by the fact that Soothe Me is the song playing on the 8-track tape of the Best of Sam and Dave.
When Murph and the Magic Tones take a break they play a mini-reel to reel of an instrumental of Billy Joel's I Love You Just the Way You Are after Murph let's out the magic words, do you go changing.
...and when the landlady comes running after Jake and Elwood to present them with the business card that she refers to them as Mr. Man

I never noticed that the bluesmobile's cigarette lighter didn't work. I had to go back and watch. The way I remembered that scene, he lit his cigarette with the car lighter and then threw it out because he hated the car so much. Who cares? As far as Jake was concerned they weren't keeping "this stupid car".

Boy was I wrong! It's still funny, though, especially how quickly he tosses it.
