Default Am I the only one who's sick of hearing about Michael Jackson lately?

I mean, don't get me wrong, it's sad that he's dead. It's always sad when people die. But seriously, ENOUGH ALREADY. He had a big impact on the world and pop culture. I know. What do you want from me? Do I need to hear about it and be reminded every single day since his death though? Seriously. Sorry if this sounds self-centered, but I just couldn't take it anymore. This was really getting to me and I had to let it all out. Again, don't get the wrong idea. I'm not saying I'm happy he's dead, I'm just tired of hearing about him and his death. Enough already, for crying out loud. On a side note, I don't even think certain people (no one here, and I'm not pointing the finger at anyone else in particular elsewhere) care that much about Michael, and are just trying to turn him into some stupid meme. That's sad....

Edit - Oh yeah, and another thing I'm sick of is people starting to talk about him from out of the blue at other places I go to whenever I talk about The Beatles

You're not the only one!! I hated how the TV Guide channel basically turned into The Michael Jackson Channel. Dudes, I just want to see when Cold Case is coming on, I DON'T FREAKING CARE.

I said when he died of "Now he's gone, he won't have to put up with anymore bull****." Maybe he doesn't, but now the rest of us do! Poor dude, can't they just let him rest in peace? (I know the answer is No, but we can hope for the best.)

It was the same way after 9/11. Yes, this is a big and tragic event that affects us all, but what does playing the footage over and over every second of the day do, other than make everyone depressed and/or desensitized? We couldn't watch TV after the second day of it. Our home video collection got quite the workout for the next few months.

Well, I feel this way every time major yearly sporting events happen. Sick of hearing about the game. Sick of the scores. Who cares?

It's all a matter of what you are interested in.

I remember when Belushi died. I was glued to the tv. Granted, you didn't have as many channels and you weren't bombarded the same way as now. I am sure some people were sick of hearing about it because of how they felt (or didn't feel) about him. I know my mom turned the tv off on me a few times because of what she thought (of him, and how he died).

But that just goes to show - the easiest way to avoid it? Turn off the tv/computer/etc. We allow ourselves to be bombarded by media, but then are unhappy when we don't like HOW we are bombarded?
