What's this car at USF (#71)? I didn't realise they had one there, where is it located?
Is it the one used in the show? Edit: I should have looked at the photo more closely before posting this, it doesn't even look like the same make of car!

This is a 1980 Dodge St Regis, a pathetic excuse to replace the 440 Monaco's and Fury's of the late 1970's. These were offered in a police package as well as a civilian sedan and were only in production for 3 model years; 1979, 1980, and 1981. They were available with either the 318cid or the 360cid engines. The car was redesigned and named the Dodge Diplomat in late 1981 with the Plymouth Gran Fury and the Chrysler New Yorker as it's production sisters. The Diplomat as you all may know was "THE" cop car of the 1980's.

I should know better than to question you, Indiana_Elwood, I guess I'm a slow learner.
That Bluesmobile ... A 1979 Buick LeSabre ... I dunno. What do you motorheads think? I'm not sure what that Bluesmobile is, exactly, but I don't think it's a St. Regis. |

Steam McQueen, you're right -- that's not a St. Regis. According to this site,http://members.fortunecity.com/copcarsite ,
it's a '79 Chrysler Newport or an '80 or '81 Plymouth Gran Fury. Here's a '79 Newport: And here's an '81 Gran Fury: Also, in my previous post I said that BB2K movie car #71 is on display at Universal Studios in Florida. Here are links to two photos of it on flickr.com: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chriscasey/183927096 http://www.flickr.com/photos/kitschytina/155151294 It is identified as car #71 in the great book "Police Cars: Restoring, Collecting, & Showing America's Finest Sedans" by Ed Sanow and Jim Post. The car was used as a basis for the excellent replica by Steve Dodd (and here's a picture of his car: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sigint_1/209289728 ). Dan |

hey everybody out there in bb central land! the universal bluesmobile in question is infact a mopar. it is the chrysler version of the dodge st. regis. the buicks from the late seventies look very similar to the fullsize chrysler, dodge, plymouth models of those years as well. but this is not the first time chrysler corporation products have come out looking like buicks. if you compare our beloved 1974 dodge monaco to the 1971 and 1972 buick lesabre or electra 225, you will see that dodge was basically handing out a design that was three years old and done by another company. i have always found this quite funny and it just goes to show you the state that the chrysler corp was in at that time!
also, you may not recognize me on the forums here. thats because although i have known about this site for a while i have had problems with my internet as well as remembering my password! but as you can see that has all been taken care of and i am quite excited to start communicating with my fellow brothers in blues that are on THE MISSION! |

I've seen a few Bluesmobiles lately. Just surfin'. Hopefully all pics and links work.
Now this Bluesmobile must belong to a tribute band here. I'm not sure who. Some guy wrote that he took these pics outside his office and it appears he's in Lincoln, Nebraska. Looks like these pics were from March of 2007. Bucket seats? All 8 pics are here ... http://www.motortopia.com/album/view...mobile_spotted Then I saw a Monaco, I think it's a 1971, for hire right here in Ontario. Missassauga actually, basically part of Toronto. Website: http://www.weareonamissionfromgod.com/pictures.htm Remember the paper model? Here's a 3D rendering of it. http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehou...12c70387efa185 Finally, here's a really cool model with working highbeams. It would appear that this model was just part of some fun experiment with other elements. Dashing through the snow ... The model pics are from, http://www.21lab.net/universal.html (This link seems very slow) Last edited by Steam McQueen; 22nd Mar 2009 at 08:17 PM. |
