SORRY! I guess that I did sound like a bit of a d!ck in that last post! I just don't want to make an 1100 mile trip (each way) only to find that there aren't any other Bluesmobiles there, or that I had my dates wrong!

Any further information? I did e-mail dave@redwagonproductions.tv earlier tonight and asked if the reuinion was planned as part of the CEVS event. If I learn any more than has been posted here, I'll be sure to post it right away.

Keep the faith!

With apologies, I think I'm officially OUT for this trip... I'd been really hoping to go and meet everybody but I just can't make the dates work. It's too close to our family vacation only two weeks later (to Hawaii, so lots of time off and lots and lots of money). So that's one Monaco (which probably won't be ready by then anyway) and one Mark II that likely won't be there, unless Shotgun wants to drive one out solo!

Have fun on the trip to Hawaii though Bis.

My mom and I are still planning on making the trip to IL. (It's a nice excuse to see all my other friends and my family too.) I might even drag a friend or two of mine out to Chicago as well.

I was wondering if there is a page that has all the info. Earlier today I was going back through the thread trying to find all the dates and time and stuff and had a hard time about it. So I was just wondering if anyone had put it all together somewhere. Thanks.

To answer those that have been asking:

For 2010 - the ChicagoLand Emergency Vehicle Show in Illinois will be held Saturday, August 7th with a Lights and Sirens Parade to be held the afternoon of Friday, August 6th. Anyone planning trips in or around Chicago should plan for Friday morning or early afternoon or anytime on Sunday.

Photos and videos of past shows are available here: Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show

The show organizer is Mr. Dave Weaver and he can be reached by phone at 312-455-1212 or by e-mail at dave@redwagonproductions.tv

I plan on attending, whether I have a Blumo or not. I may just bring the only non-Monaco Blumo if I still have it by then. I am not sure if anyone else has any info on local hotels that are partnered with the show, but if not, my friend Ken Dunn who has the 1991 Ford CHP car has the info. I'll get it from him tomorrow and post it here.

I look forward to seeing all of you there.

I'm not familiar with Chicago, but it looks like there's a House Of Blues right off Lower Wacker Drive. If they've got a decent parking lot, might be a good spot for a photo op at least.

Hey Axl, that really is not a good place, youve Marina Tower Valet parking, Arestaurant, the house of blues and the hotel is right there, so not to good, every time I went for a pic of House of blues in back ground, they get real freaked out! Ha, but maybe if we all kept coming! Ha! every 5 min' a different bluesmobile w/ different guys would freak them out! Ha! good stuff!

Can vouch for that, we were with John for one of those photo ops. Got some good pics but they were definitely nervous, no real access to the front of the place.

The Bluesmobile gathering will take place on August 7th with most vehicles arriving the evening of the 6th. August 8th will feature a police escorted lights and sirens parade for those who wish to stay. I will be present all three days and look forward to meeting anyone who can attend.

The evening of August 7th will also feature an evening car cruise in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. This cruise runs from 6:00pm EST to 9:00pm EST.

I have spoken to organizers of both events. In regards to ChicagoLand, if enough Bluesmobiles arrive they will create a separate plaque/trophy presentation at the event. I am currently waiting on some information regarding what Chicago plans to do and regarding an appearance by Dan Aykroyd.

If anyone would like to put together a basic flyer or poster that includes the dates, times and locations for this, please feel free to submit one to the post for consideration. The main title of the flyer or poster should read - "30th Anniversary Blues Brothers Celebration and Bluesmobile Gathering". I know we have talented people here - let it shine.

I was reading about the show on their website, and they are saying the show is sat aug. 7. And the lights and sirens parade is friday the 6th.. Those are the only dates they provide. Nothing about the 8th.

So witch is it?? haha dont mean to be a pain in da ass! Just curious.. still got a while for it.

The 2010 Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show will take place on Saturday, August 7th and the Lights and Sirens Parade on Friday, August 6th. Stay tuned for location updates!

Any more info on it 76?

I spoke to Dave Weaver (ChicagoLand Organizer) about 2 days ago and he told me that he has received many phone calls and e-mails regarding the show. He did mention that the website is not completely up-to-date and that he will have it 100% ready for us in 10-14 days. Keep your eyes open and look for the updates to be posted somewhere between April 4 and April 11, 2010. Registration information will also be on the site. Remember, it is free to pre-register and $20 at the gate. Save yourself the dough - please pre-register. Information on hotels should also be available soon. Dave does have deals in Chicago for those attending the show.

I mentioned to Dave about all of you who are interested in attending and made sure to invite him to the site to see your cars. He is highly excited about seeing several Blumos this year. I'll be working hard to see to it that the most up-to-date information is posted for you. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll check with Dave.

Also, here is another update for your reading pleasure - my younger brother is a volunteer fireman and he is looking at creating an Emergency Vehicle Show here is Western Pennsylvania. He told me about this idea he had (he didn't even know about Dave's show) which turned out to be exactly the same as Chicago. The show would most likely occur about 2 to 3 weeks before the ChicagoLand show on the third Saturday in July. I will be the project manager should he decide to actually build the event. I have spoken to Dave about the show and he is in support of the idea. If successful, our event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania would also promote the ChicagoLand event - thereby helping to build both. Chances are good I might become much more busy this summer than I had anticipated.

Keep yourself updated here as all the info will be posted here first. And be sure when you get to Chicago to thank Dave for all of his work and support. And if you know anyone who has a Knight Rider Trans-Am replica, be sure to encourage them to attend - Dave had forgotten completely about those vehicles - lets get all of our TV and movie friends in this year.

I'll be down your way in early July, El72, bringing the Bluesmobile to the Shore Leave Star Trek convention in Hunt Valley. If you're into the sci-fi stuff at all stop up for a beer!

Hey Country Bunker,

The parade is yes on Friday, but our cars to my knowledge, or havent been welcome to join in, Usualy only 1 Buesmobile and that's Dave's which is only fair and I have never had a prob w/ that.

I'd say use Friday as your travel day, unless of course you can get off thursday or drive thursday night. then you can use Friday for your picture day downtown at scenes, Now sunday before you leave might be good for that as well if you get up real early for some bad neighborhood stuff.

But the Sat' Show is the thing you want, all the cars in the parade from Friday night will be there, get to walk up close, talk w/ owners, ETC. A guy comes every year from Ohio, I think even some east coast guys too.

At late afternoon, the idea then is to jump on the highway (well it would be faster) and go to Mt. Prospect, Il for the Bluesmobile Cruise nights Show. It's no cruise just a car show, they are expecting us as well and said they may try and promote it. Down the street is a Bluesbrothers theme Bar, real cool! maybe a bit pricey but worth the view. I usualy leave there around Dusk, but it goes to 9pm, I beleive. I hope that all help's.

john

Thanks a bunch john!! Really clears things up!

That was gonna be my next question, if we could do the parade.. But thats fine we cant. I understand completely. Thats what i was planning to do. Get there early friday morning, and take the car to the fimlming locations for some photos. Just spend the day doing that, but depending on what time the parade starts I might go watch it?? idk.

The real reason i was asking is that theres a concert going on friday night the 6th here in clarkston i realy wanted to go to. I was thinking maybe doing that and just heading down there early friday morning (its only a 3/4 hour drive) But im gonna skip that and just head down there friday, and spend a long weekend down there! If I dont hit all the locations friday, maybe ill do the rest sunday.. We'll see how it all works out.

Thanks again!

Hey I wanted to post up here and first introduce myself and then see if we can get this event rollin in Mt. Prospect. My name is Dave Peters and I belong to the Mt. Prospect Downtown Merchants Association that runs the Bluesmobile Cruise Nights and I'm the chairman this year.

We're really looking forward to this and all ready have some plans under way. Mt. Prospect's finest has agreed to have their Blumo out there and a local ice cream shop called Capannari's will be showing the Blues Brothers movie that night. Its an outdoor thing and usually draws several hundred people so that should be really cool. We're also talking with Blues Bar to see how they can get involved too. We're planning on having a blues band at the event and there's a possibility of getting Willie "Big Eyes" Smith to play. He was the drummer in the Maxwell St. scene with John Lee Hooker and one of the guys I work with knows him.

We're open to ideas and suggestions and want to work with y'all to pull this thing off right. One of our village trustees suggested trying to contact Dan Akroyd and try to entice him into coming out. I dont know if anyone here has contact info but it sounded like a good idea to me.

If anyone wants to contact me directly you can reach me at work at 847-398-6155 or dave@mobile-print.com.

Thanks, Dave
