In Blues Brothers: Private, Elwood writes a letter to Jake - and one of the first lines he thanks him for a "remedy" to something that ailed him.
For some reason, I always felt it was a code word for something that you couldn't get over the counter, or even with a prescription.... if you know what I mean. Anyone have thoughts on this? |

Could very well be. I prefer my Elwood drug free, but... hey...
Syd! I thought you said you'd never participate in the great "Does Elwood Smoke?" debate! *wink* |

Maybe MoeBluesStooge wanted to state by comparison with Jake, that Elwood was the 'wiser' type.
Eh, not looking at the menu don't mean you ain't gonna order one day or so !!! LOL

Sorry, Syd, for this mishap. No confusion intended.
Just replying to your reply (without hitting the 'quote' button... typical me...) : "By definition, doesn't being abstinent, doesn't that mean no drinking or sex?" which you posted yesterday. Actually the real line says : "Looking at the menu doesn't mean you're gonna order !" but just for the fun of it, I reversed the quote. Besides, never thought about the special remedy mentioned by Elwood in his letter to his brother, as published in BB Private. *slap head hard* Of course ! It just clicked ! OMG ! I agree, I would prefer Elwood being drug-free but that was the epoch. I'd rather think about liquor too.

Quote:
I have Asperger's Syndrome. People with Asperger's tend to drift off into their own world, kind of like schizophrenia, though not as violent. I don't think Elwood has it because he does not drift off into space, like I do sometimes. And yes, Vinnie, I do think Elwood is wiser! |

Elwood is a lot spacier and naive in the novel (therefore, also in the original script draft) than he is in the movie.
Toll gun = you (the driver) fill it with tokens/quarters and just aim and shoot it into the coin drop (used when no booth operator is present) so you don't have to fiddle for change in your pocket/ash tray/etc. Of course, I've been on toll roads all of once in my life, but that would be my guess. |
